EMA Veterinary Awareness Day
Mark your calendars for the upcoming EMA Veterinary Awareness Day scheduled to take place from September 12 to 13, 2023. This innovative event promises to provide a holistic overview of the EMA’s work in veterinary medicine science and regulation within the European Union. As the Veterinary Medicinal Products Regulation crosses its one-year milestone, this event aims to extend its reach beyond the traditional stakeholders and engage a wider audience. Taking place online from 09:00 to 15:30 (Amsterdam time CEST), the event’s agenda includes sessions on crucial topics such as antimicrobial resistance, innovation support, and collaboration with academia. It will also delve into more specific themes, including animal welfare and the interplay between veterinary medicines and the environment.
Registered participants will have the unique opportunity to interact with panelists and gain insights into the agency’s efforts to benefit animal health and welfare. For those unable to attend, a public broadcast of the event will be available, along with video recordings and presentation materials for later reference.

EU Veterinary Big Data Workplan to 2025
In collaboration with the Heads of Medicines Agencies (HMA), the EMA has launched a initiative in veterinary medicine – the “EU Veterinary Big Data Workplan to 2025.” This project aims to elevate the European Medicines Regulatory Network by harnessing the power of scientific knowledge and data-driven practices. By implementing this workplan, the agencies aim to enhance regulatory efficiency, responsiveness, and robustness in the realm of veterinary medicines within the European Union (EU). The workplan is structured around the pillars of analytics discoverability, governance and literacy, and stakeholder engagement, all aimed at fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making in veterinary medicine regulation.
