IVC Evidensia Sponsors FECAVA Student Travel Scholarship

IVC Evidensia has recently agreed to sponsor a scholarship scheme that is run by the Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Association (FECAVA). IVC Evidensia will sponsor 10 students through the Student Travel Scholarship scheme, each year for the next two years.

The scholarship gives students, in their final two years of university, the unique experience of visiting one of the biggest, international veterinary congresses and get an early introduction to the FECAVA.

Previous recipients of the scholarship have benefited from learning from world class speakers and connecting with fellow students from around the word. Here’s what some of them had to say of last year’s congress.

Austėja Zykutė, Belgium

“It was the first international congress, and to be honest the first event of this type I have ever attended! A chance to not only listen and learn from speakers from as far as USA but also to ask questions and even have a chat with them was a real motivation boost. Not to forget other delegates from all over the world who gave an insight into veterinary medicine in their countries, as well as some valuable connections.”

Anne Myller, Finland

“I’d like to thank you for the scholarship. It offered me a great opportunity to see what those international congresses are all about. The lecturers were definitely world class, so I learned a lot and got more confidence to attend this kind of events in the future.”

Emilia Sulik, Poland

“I was able to take part in many lectures given by professionals from all around the world. They shared their knowledge with passion and happily answered any questions. I had an opportunity to meet other students from Europe. We spent some time together discussing our further plans and exchanging our experience. I had a chance to meet all FECAVA board members, who were very kind to students and willing to help us any time we needed.”

Renata Matic, Croatia

“This Congress was filled with remarkable scientific program that I tried to utilize fully by attending the lectures most suitable with my interests. Being a part of 25th FECAVA EuroCongress has been a true pleasure and I am already missing Russia!”

Inês Rodrigues, Portugal

“It was by far my major adventure. I met wonderful people I will never forget, I learned things that would certainly help me in my future career, and I was traveling on my own for the first time in my life which made me grow a lot as a person.”

FECAVA Senior Vice President ad previous clinical director of IVC’s Virginia Water Vets, Wolfgang Dohne said,

“Veterinary medicine of the 21st Century is no longer limited to be a regional or national profession. It is an international profession. The FECAVA IVC Evidensia Student Travel Scholarship enables final year veterinary students from different European countries to experience the scientific programme, the trade exhibition, the networking opportunities and the social programme of a large international veterinary congress. Attending the FECAVA EuroCongress gets delegates in close contact with internationally renowned speakers and with potential future employers. It enables them to make friends (possibly for life) in other countries and to share their knowledge and experiences.”

He went on to say,

“The first two scholarship programmes organised together with the International Veterinary Student Associations (IVSA) have been a great success with students enjoying the opportunity to meet up with fellow students from other countries and to be able to meet up and network with the current leaders and opinion makers of companion animal veterinary medicine in Europe.”
