FECAVA Month – November 2019

UEVP and FVE General Assembly
The UEVP (Union of European Veterinary Practitioners) General Assembly was held in Brussels, Belgium on 7th November 2019, followed by the FVE (Federation of Veterinarians of Europe) General Assembly on 8th and 9th November.

FECAVA was represented by Danny Holmes and Ann Criel. FECAVA represents small animal practitioners across Europe which is, based on recent VetSurvey the largest community of practicing veterinarians. During the UEVP meeting Ann Criel made an update on important FECAVA activities.

On the last day of FVE meeting, Sean Wensley submitted a report on the new FVE Animal Welfare Working Group, which met in the end of October. Ann Criel is also part of this Working group as a FECAVA representative.

FECAVA at Polish Small Animal Veterinary Congress


On the 15th – 17th November, PSAVA International Small Animal Congress was held in Łódź, Poland. Wolfgang Dohne attended the conference as the FECAVA representative. This was the last PSAVA Congress before joint FECAVA/WSAVA Congress next year in Warsaw. Among other things, Mr. Dohne attended the gathering of the exhibitors and discussed the promotion of the next year’s congress with other present FECAVA Directors.

Steve Hallahan about the role of vets in the fightback against antibiotic resistance


Steve Hallahan, the FECAVA Director for Ireland and chair of the European Platform for the Responsible Use of Medicines in Animals (EPRUMA) wrote an article for the Health Europa, in which he stated why practicing veterinarians should lead the fightback against drug resistance.
