Didier-Noël Carlotti Award Laureate 2019

Assistant Professor Dr. Bogdan-Alexandru Vitalaru from Romania will be this year’s laureate of Didier-Noël Carlotti Award (DCA).

DCA is named after a veterinary surgeon, who initiated FECAVA and was its first President. It is awarded annually to a FECAVA member, working in the field of companion animal veterinary medicine, who has provided an outstanding service in the fields of inter professional communication and/or continuing education for companion animal veterinarians in Europe.

Dr. Bogdan-Alexandru Vitalaru is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, USAMV Bucharest. Over the years he has written more than 100 scientific papers on oncologic surgery, dialysis, haemodialysis and emergencies, 4 books on emergencies in small animals and his latest book on peritoneal dialysis has also been released n English in some European countries. In collaboration with B. Braun Romania within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, he opened the first Veterinary Hemodialysis Clinic in Romania and one of few in Eastern Europe. He has also established the Romanian Association of Veterinary Nephrology and he is its chairman. He is doing a great job in offering continuous education to veterinarians – being a lecturer of urology, nephrology and renal replacement therapies and having initiated a program of workshops and seminars about renal patients in Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Croatia, Italy and Turkey. Dr. Bogdan-Alexandru Vitalaru is a member within the board of some prestigious publications in Romania, board member of AMVAC, FECAVA Director for Romania, FECAVA Ambassador and ROVECCS Ambassador.

He was selected for the Award by the DCA Committee under the chairmanship of AFVAC’s FECAVA Director Claude Beata and will receive it at the opening ceremony of the 25thFECAVA EuroCongress in St. Petersburg.
