FECAVA processes personal data in accordance with GDPR and Belgian law.

The data controller is the Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA).
3. Categories of Personal Data
FECAVA may collect personal data including identification data, professional information, contact details, certification records, payment data, and correspondence.
4. Lawful Basis and Purposes of Processing
Personal data are processed on the basis of consent, contractual necessity, legal obligation, and/or legitimate interest for administering activities and certification programmes.
5. Certification-Specific Processing
In certification programmes, personal data may be disclosed to examiners, assessors, committees, auditors, and service providers.
Where applicable, personal data may also be shared with educational partners (such as Education Vet, for the FECAVA Certificate in Small Animal Anaesthesia and Analgesia) for course administration and participant registration, as well as with programme sponsors (such as Dechra, for the FECAVA Certificate in Small Animal Anaesthesia and Analgesia) where required for contractual or programme-related purposes. Such sharing is subject to explicit consent obtained during registration.
6. Data Retention
Personal data are retained only for as long as necessary for their purposes.
7. Data Sharing and Transfers
Personal data shall not be sold or transferred for commercial purposes, unless explicitly specified in the application or registration processes and subject to the data subject’s informed consent.
In such cases, participants may be given the option to consent to data sharing with third parties, including sponsors (e.g. Education Vet) or partners (e.g. Dechra), for purposes clearly defined at the point of data collection. Appropriate contractual and technical safeguards shall be applied to ensure compliance with applicable data protection legislation.
8. Data Subject Rights
Data subjects have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, and object under GDPR. They may also withdraw consent at any time.
Requests, including requests for deletion of personal data, may be submitted via the contact details provided on the FECAVA website or by contacting FECAVA directly at: office@fecava.org.
FECAVA shall respond to such requests within the timeframes required under applicable data protection legislation.
