I graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon at Ghent University, Belgium in 2002. After spending some time in private practice, I returned to UGent to work as a clinician at the section of Anaesthesia & Analgesia of the Small Animal Department, where I later completed a PhD-thesis on the subject of “Multimodal intra- and postoperative analgesia in dogs undergoing stifle surgery”. I’m a fully trained ECVAA resident and a member of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists (AVA). Currently, I’m head of clinics for the Anaesthesia and Analgesia section of the Small Animal Department of Ghent University and I combine this with a position of freelance anaesthesia & analgesia consultancy. I’m involved in research projects and publish in my fields of interest (author or co-author of 1 book chapter & over 40 peer-reviewed publications). Furthermore, I’m a speaker at national and international conferences and I serve as a reviewer for peer-reviewed international journals. My current topics of particular interest include analgesia and mechanical ventilation. Furthermore, I’m a cat person and my hobbies are mainly sports (triathlon, trail running) and enjoying music.
