Joaquin Araos
Dr. Joaquin Araos obtained his DVM from Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile, and went on to complete a rotating internship at Cornell University followed by a residency in veterinary anesthesia and analgesia at the University of Pennsylvania. He then returned to Chile to pursue a PhD in Medical Sciences at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, School of Medicine. Currently, Dr. Araos serves as an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. His research program bridges veterinary and translational medicine, with a focus on improving perioperative ventilation strategies and advancing lung-protective approaches. He has a particular interest in the pathophysiology and treatment of acute cardiopulmonary failure, integrating experimental and clinical models to explore novel therapies and optimize outcomes.
