Join us on Wednesday, September 3rd (precongress day) at the Room with a Zoo – OKAPI ROOM in Antwerp for a half-day POCUS (Point Of Care UltraSound) workshop led by Prof. Kris Gommeren and his expert team.

This half-day session will focus on teaching the structured Point Of Care UltraSound approach for an abdominal, pleural, lung and cardiovascular POCUS in healthy live dogs. Small groups of veterinarians or veterinary nurses will be guided at each station by an experienced emergency and critical care clinician on how these POCUS techniques are typically performed. The sonoanatomy of the dog will be explained, for the veterinarian/veterinary nurse to recognize the different landmarks as well as standardized views. This approach should allow the clinician to obtain the most sensitive views to detect common pathologies in cardiorespiratory unstable emergencies. All clinicians will have ample time to scan the animal under direct
supervision and receive instant feedback. The goal for each clinician should be to be able to perform a thorough abdominal, pleural and lung ultrasound by the end of the training, and to be familiar with the technique to obtain “easy” right parasternal short axis views (aka the mushroom and the mercedes and whale view).
