Marc Vangheluwe Receives the Didier Carlotti Award 2026
FECAVA is pleased to announce Marc Vangheluwe as the recipient of the Didier Carlotti Award 2026, recognising his longstanding commitment and significant contribution to small animal veterinary medicine and the veterinary profession.
Marc Vangheluwe graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University in 1987. Over the course of his career, he successfully ran a small animal veterinary practice alongside his wife, Ann Janssens, while also making a lasting contribution to the professional organisations representing small animal veterinarians.
For more than three decades, Marc served as a board member of SAVAB-Flanders, taking on several key responsibilities, including Treasurer and Vice President. He played a particularly important role in the development of the organisation’s annual congress. Through his extensive international network, he helped bring renowned speakers to Belgium, contributing to the availability of high-quality, internationally oriented continuing professional development for the Belgian veterinary community.
Marc’s contribution has also extended well beyond Belgium. He represented Belgium within FECAVA and WSAVA for many years and served as Chair of the FECAVA FAC. He subsequently served as a FECAVA Director and concluded his term as Internal Auditor.
Throughout his professional and organisational career, Marc has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing veterinary education, professional collaboration and the development of small animal veterinary medicine. His extensive service at national and international level has made a valuable contribution to the veterinary community.
FECAVA warmly congratulates Marc Vangheluwe on receiving the Didier Carlotti Award 2026 and thanks him for his many years of dedicated service to the profession.
