The Netherlands prohibits prong collars

In the Netherlands, the use of so-called prong collars has been forbidden since July 1st 2018.

According to the law on animal welfare, it is now considered an act of animal cruelty to ‘use or tether an animal with an object with sharp spikes or prongs that can cause pain’.

The use of e-collars continues to be allowed for the moment, but will be regulated at a later point in time.
