This special issue of the European Journal of Companion Animal Practice dedicated to veterinary ophthalmology can be considered as sign of the development of the discipline in Europe. If we consider that 15% of companion animal patients presented in general practice exhibit an ocular /adnexal disease, we must admit how essential ocular disease is, not only for specialists, but also for the general practitioner. Therefore, access to updated scientific information is important in order to give our patients the best treatment.
