Illegal dog movements and false certification highlighted by official vet in France

There were many irregularities observed in the movement of dogs in France, according to Deborah Infante, official veterinarian from France. Speaking at the general assembly of the Union of European Veterinarians of Europe in Tallinn yesterday, she noted that puppies were often found to be younger than the age mentioned in the passport, while invalid rabies vaccinations were also observed, as were fake vaccine stickers. Furthermore, movements often were undeclared while many welfare organisations were not registered and foreign-bred puppies were often illegally introduced in France. And most recently, an illegal trade of microchips and passports had been observed.
